This miniature 10 gramme gold bar was struck in Germany in the early 70s and offered to the customers of the Sparkasse bank as an investment. It is 90% gold, so contains 9 grammes of pure gold.

The obverse is a replica of the first British Guiana Stamp, the 1 Cent black/red of 1852. The reverse is prooflike with text in German.

Guinea (UK) 1775 Good

This coin has previously been used in jewellery and has old marks on the rim where it was probably attached to a loop at some stage. The portrait has also suffered, but does look worse in the picture than it is in real life. It remains an attractive item of antique gold.

Weight: 8.08 grammes.

My range of collectors' kits are very popular, especially as gifts at Christmas time. They also work out less expensive than buying all the items separately.

Kit Four contains the basics you need to get off the ground with coin collecting. It includes 3 stackable SAFE NOVA coin trays, either provided as useful sizes for British coins, or whatever sizes you specify. It also includes 100 plastic 40mm coin envelopes, which I find very useful for the coins that don't quite fit in with the others in the album. This kit also comes with the latest edition of Collectors' Coins Great Britain, one of the most popular British coin price-guides.

MICROSCOPE 60-100 X

This is the ideal tool for spotting overstrike legend and date errors, pointing differences and other minute die variety differences. It features a variable scale of magnification from 60x - 100x and has its own battery powered adjustable light source (although it works perfectly well without batteries if a good external light source is available). It is also supplied with a stand and slide holder.
With an inexpensive digital camera (Samsung Digimax 130) held close to the lens I was also able to photograph parts of coins at 60-100x magnification, at the same quality as looking down the lens myself. All of the letters in the words 'Close up' above where photographed from a few coins I had lying around (I couldn't find a 'U' so used a Roman style 'V'!). There are some full size images linked to from below the Microscope picture.
